About Gillian Holmes
Birth and Postnatal Doula, Pregnancy and Postnatal Yoga, Antenatal Teacher and mum of three.
My first pregnancy led me to become fascinated with the amazing transformation my body - and mind - were going through. A few years and two more babies later, I qualified as a National Childbirth Trust (NCT) Antenatal Teacher. I subsequently took further training in Yoga for Pregnancy and Mother & Baby Yoga (as well as 200 hour yoga teacher training) and now teach both in Stroud and Nailsworth - check out my yoga site 'Birth and Beyond Cotswolds' for more on the classes I run.
Knowing that supporting individuals and couples would always be my passion, when my children were a little older I completed the Nurturing Birth doula training course and I now have the honour of supporting women and families as a Birth and Postnatal Doula. My experience includes supporting women and couples planning home and hospital births, induction and declining induction, Caesarean, surrogacy, multiples, land and water births; with and without midwife support.
I also continue to teach antenatal courses for the NCT locally (see NCT); I co-run the Stroud Home Birth Hub which meets regularly to share birth stories and information; and I administer the free Stroud Birth Pool Hire service.
